I grew up hardly knowing my cousins. I saw them maybe twice a year – if that – and since they’re all much younger than me and mostly boys we didn’t interact all that much even then. I fancied myself as a grown up young lady and preferred to hang out with the adults, LOL. I feel like I missed out by not having a close relationship with my cousins…and so I am just thrilled that my daughter gets to grow up near her cousins.
And cousins there are a-plenty! Between my sisters 4 girls and my brother- and sister-in-law’s 2 girls, there are a lot of little girls running around! They’re all little, too; the oldest one turns 6 next month. I love it! It makes me so happy to see Nadia playing alongside her cousins and I can’t wait to watch their bond deepen as they grow. Nadia already talks about her cousins all the time and they’re best friends.
I also love that my sister and I get to experience this adventure called motherhood together – although I think I get the better end of the deal, since she’s already been through everything a couple times by the time I encounter each new issue and can offer sound advice and commiseration. :o ) Jen, you know you’re my hero, don’t you? You manage all four of your girls, and yet you don’t laugh at me when I whine about the challenge of just one!
Yesterday after church, the adorable-ness (yes, I just invented that word) of this scene struck me and I had to grab the camera! Just look at those 4 little girls all lined up at the table, sandaled-feet dangling!
(on an aside…this picture is one of those times I really wish I could master in-camera DOF. The aperture was set at 3.5, yet I still have a very broad focus. I don’t understand that and it’s driving me crazy! I usually can mimic a shallow DOF in Photoshop, but I just couldn’t get it to look real on this image…and so, everything is in focus.)
all in a row
It won’t be long until it’s five little girls sitting side-by-side like that. The little one is only 6 months old, but oh my is she precocious – she’s already crawling, even pulling herself to her knees! She is probably the most easy-going baby I’ve ever known, just watching the world with wide eyes and taking it all in. She in almost always content, almost never cries. Such a good baby!

Of course, no BSM post is complete without a picture of my own little angel…so here it is. :o )
