big girl swings Tuesday, Sep 18 2007

Just a quickie post to get that complain-y, “poor me” post off the front of my blog. I didn’t realize until after I already published it just how whiny I sounded! Sorry ’bout that…I know there’s been lots of flu bugs making the rounds lately, and it was just my turn this weekend! Now that I’m finally feeling better, I can think more rationally. ;o)

Anyway, this morning Nadia and I hit the park for some fresh air and fun. And Nadia was very proud to she me what a big girl she is on the BIG GIRL SWING!

Hopefully tomorrow I’ll get around to posting some real content with actual words. ;o)

Have you missed me? Tuesday, Sep 18 2007

Hey gals! (and maybe a few guy readers, too?)

I’m back from the dead. That’s how it feels anyway. It’s amazing how hard the flu can hit a person.

Yep, I’ve been down with the flu. And oh my did it ever have me down. I seriously don’t think I can remember ever feeling that bad in my life – not after surgery, not after having a baby, never. Ugh. I had the body aches and um, the usual “stuff” that goes with flu, but the worst part was the mind-numbing exhaustion.

It all started with body aches Saturday afternoon, but by evening it had developed into full blown flu. I spent all of Sunday lying on the bed or on the couch (or in the bathroom!). Merely twitching my finger exhausted me. Finally by mid-afternoon it dawned on me that part of the reason I’m so dizzy and lightheaded is because I hadn’t eaten a single thing in 24 hours (yeah, I know – duh!). So over the next hour I nibbled on a popsicle, a cup of ginger ale, another popsicle, some dry Cheerios, and another popsicle – those posiscles were like the BEST THING EVER!!!

Thank God it was the weekend, and Vasily could be there to take care of Nadia. He was great with her, keeping her entertained and even taking her to the McDonalds playground.

I went to bed at 6 and slept 13 hours straight. I woke up feeling a bit better, and my strength has slowly returned through the day. This morning, though, I was still exhausted, but I just couldn’t take the disaster my house was! Hubby was great with the girl, but the house, um, not so much. So all morning I cleaned for 2 minutes and then rested for 20, LOL. Nadia was SO good, very sweet and loving and gentle. I don’t think she’s feeling 100% either, as she’s never this calm. We had a new front door installed this morning, and she and I literally just sat there and watched the guy work for an hour. I couldn’t believe she just sat there snuggling with me.

So anyway, that’s where I’ve been lately. I’m reading all blog posts I missed, but I’m not even going to try to reply to everything. Oh, and Stacy, for some reason I can’t load your page?? I can see all your posts in Google Reader, but when I click over to open the page it never loads.

Now, since I know you’re all pining away for my photography (haha, I crack myself up!), here’s a few pictures.

This one was Saturday afternoon, when the flu was just starting to come on – and this is the last picture I’ve taken! Ahhh, no camera for over 2 days, I must rectify that! Anyway, I was feeling awful but when I saw the pattern the sunlight made across the bedroom wall, I just had to get a picture. Looks like shooting stars!

And, a couple of my lil munchkin (I know, she’s really the one you’ve missed!). BTW, here’s a tip – the car always provides such gorgeous light!

It strikes me as odd that Nadia often looks quite serious and thoughtful, even a little sad, in pictures. Becasue very rarely is she any of those things! this is a more accurate representation of the real moment:
*laugh!*
