Saturday afternoon I was resting on the bed and reveling in the beauty of the scene before me.
She was oblivious of me as an audience, and for a while I just sat and watched as she gazed out the window, exchanged quiet words with TedBear, and shared a drink with him. It was one of those perfect moments that I would love to be able to freeze for all eternity, and so after a few moments I reached for the camera and did my best to capture it so I can enjoy it for all eternity.
The resulting images are rather different than my usual style – sharper, more shadowy, more dramatic. The light is overly harsh and they are far from technical masterpieces. Yet I love them. I adore them. They tug at my heartstrings and I think 20 years from now, they will remain some of my favorite pictures of my girl. They capture her innocence and wonder. I even love that the sippy cup stands there and distracts from the artistry of the scene, because this is NADIA and one the quirks that I love oh-so-much about her is how she drags those beloved cups everywhere with her.

P.S. I forgot to share the best part of the story!
For a few minutes Nadia was lost in her own little world, but then she became aware of me again. She reached out her little hand and beckoned me, “Mama come…look.” And so we stood side by side, watching the world beyond our window, bathed in sunlight, her sweet warm baby hand tucked into mine.
